I want to take a step back for a moment. I've being throwing around the term mindset quite a bit around here because it's super crucial to your success, but that also means it deserves a proper explanation.
mindset (/ˈmīn(d)set/) - the established set of attitudes held by someone.
If you were a car, think of your goals as your destination, the place you're headed, and your mindset as the wheels. Your mindset is absolutely critical to getting you were you want to go. Hills, valley, and bumps in your way? With healthy wheels you can roll on over any obstacle. In fact, the car won't even move without the wheels, and if there's an issue with the wheels, like a flat tire, it slows the car down to a halt.
I know what you're thinking: cute analogy Hollie, but what's it got to do with me? Well I want you to ask yourself:
- Have you ever had a time in your life when you wanted something SO badly one moment you could feel it in your bones then the next moment you had talked yourself out of it because you didn't have the time, money, skills, (insert circumstance here)?
- Do you have an old wound (like unkind words someone said to you as a child or a traumatic life event) that still comes up, sometimes when you least expect it, and impacts your decision making or choices?
If you said yes to either of these, then you have come face to face with a mindset speed bump. Were you able to get over it? Or was it a huge pothole that completely took you off the road for a bit?
The good news is that mindset can be strengthened just like any other muscle in the body, but it can also atrophy.
Keeping a high vibe mindset can be as simple as the right book, YouTube video, podcast, Facebook group, coaching, therapy, friend, meditation, or affirmations. Keeping a healthy mindset needs continued attention and effort but it pays dividends!
